What does the celebrant do?
I attend to all the legal paperwork, including assisting in writing and arranging the ceremony to suit your needs and solemnising your marriage.
What are the legal obligations?
- Both parties must be over the age of 18
- You must sign the ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ at least one day and one calender month prior to the marriage. This form is provided by the celebrant and needs only be signed by one person. The other can sign prior to the marriage
- You must produce your Birth Certificate if you were born in Australia.
If you were born outside Australia you will need to produce either your birth certificate or your current passport - If either of you have been married previously you must produce your Divorce Decree Absolut papers and/or if either of your spouses are deceased, you will need to produce the relevant Death Certificate.
